DECATUR, Ill. – The WSOY Community Food Drive is inviting local businesses, organizations, and community groups to step up and help feed families in need across Macon County. The annual event will take place October 3rd, 2025, at Kroger in Airport Plaza, with all monetary donations benefiting local food pantries through the United Way of Decatur and Mid-Illinois.
There are countless ways to get involved:
Donate – Make a corporate contribution. All monetary donations are tax-deductible thanks to our partnership with the United Way. Businesses can donate online or in person on October 3rd—and get recognized on-air during the live 12-hour broadcast. Consider donating a portion of your sales, offering in-kind contributions, or becoming a Placesetter Partner. Payroll deduction programs and 1:1 employee matching are also encouraged. Businesses can reach out to info@wsoyfooddrive.com to find out about being a placesetter partner.
Fundraise – Create friendly competitions between departments, challenge a partner business, or host special events. A new toolkit available HERE allows businesses to request bags for employees to fill, download fundraising ideas, or use the WSOY Food Drive logo to promote their efforts.
Share – Promote the drive on social media using downloadable graphics, include it in newsletters, post it on business marquees, or display posters. We can even deliver materials to your location.
Collect Food – Set up collection areas for employees, customers, or clients using our requested food list. Offer customer discounts for donated goods, request bags for distribution, and bring donations to Kroger on October 3rd—or arrange an early pickup.
Supporting the WSOY Community Food Drive isn’t just about giving back—it’s an opportunity for your business to showcase its commitment to the community. Participating organizations receive recognition across multiple platforms, including WSOY on-air mentions, NowDecatur.com features, and social media shoutouts.
