KROGER OFFERING CUSTOMERS OPPORTUNITY IN AUGUST TO ROUND UP FOR THE FOOD DRIVE.

Decatur, IL - Shoppers at all Kroger locations in Decatur have the opportunity to make a big impact with small change this month. Throughout August, customers can choose to “round up” their purchases to the nearest dollar at checkout, with all proceeds going to the WSOY Community Food Drive, which takes place Friday, October 2nd.

In addition to the round-up option, Kroger is also offering $5, $10 and $10 donation add-ons, giving customers a variety of ways to give. While shopping in August, you can also grab one of their $5 and $10 pre-packed donation bags.

The WSOY Community Food Drive is a massive one-day effort aimed at fighting hunger throughout Macon County, and Kroger’s month-long campaign is one of the first big pushes to kick off this year’s effort.

The campaign has also created a friendly competition between the Decatur stores to see who can raise the most and win the coveted WSOY Food Drive Trophy. Last year winner, the Kroger on Rt. 36, has also sweetened the deal with a store competition between cashiers, awarding gift cards weekly to the employees who raise the most.

Kroger's partnership with the WSOY Community Food Drive goes all the way back to the drive's beginning 26 years ago. It's also part of Kroger's Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative, which reflects Kroger's commitment to build healthier communities and improve access to affordable, fresh food for everyone.
