DECATUR, IL — The WSOY Community Food Drive returns on October 3rd, and organizers are inviting community members to step up and serve in one of several meaningful ways. Whether you want to roll up your sleeves on site on October 3rd, support the drive ahead of time, or make a financial donation, there are plenty of opportunities to give back and help feed Macon County.

Volunteer sign-ups are now open, and help is needed not just on the day of the drive, but in the weeks leading up to the event as well. Volunteers can:

  • Deliver bags and pick up food donations. The WSOY Community Food Drive will deliver empty Kroger bags to companies and groups who request them, and they need volunteers for delivery. Deliver just a few or sign up multiple times!

  • Work on-site at the Food Drive on October 3rd at Kroger on Route 36 in the Airport Plaza, helping collect, sort, and pack donations.

  • Assist food pantries directly by helping unload and organize deliveries from the trucks.

In addition to volunteering, donations can be made in a variety of ways:

  • Text WSOY to 26989

  • Venmo @UWDecatur

  • Donate online through the United Way website

  • Mail donations to United Way, 201 W. Eldorado, Decatur, IL 62522 (C/O: WSOY Food Drive)

  • Or drop off food and funds during the drive itself at Kroger on October 3rd.

The WSOY Community Food Drive is one of the largest one-day food drives in Illinois, supporting dozens of local pantries and helping fight food insecurity across the region.
