The Reed and Morris Families pledge $1,500 in prizes for special WSOY Community Food Drive TEACHER CHALLENGE!
Decatur, IL – The Reed and Morris Families are adding an exciting twist to this year’s WSOY Community Food Drive with a special Teacher Challenge — offering $1,000 to the teacher whose classroom raises the most food and donations, and $500 to the second-place teacher.
This prize giveaway is IN ADDITION to the school-wide competition already in place, giving educators two opportunities to win while helping fight hunger in Macon County.
Teachers who wish to participate can collect both non-perishable food items and monetary donations within their classrooms.
They can also solicit Food Drive donations online to credit their classroom through the online Teacher Incentive Giving Portal HERE.
While those totals will also count toward the school’s overall contribution, this classroom contest has a specific requirement: all food and monetary donations (not given online through the Teacher Incentive Giving Portal) must be turned in to the Northeast Community Fund (NECF) by October 1st to qualify. This is to ensure that individual classrooms totals can be tallied in advance to announce the winner during the food drive on October 3rd at the Kroger in Airport Plaza.
To participate, teachers should arrange for NECF to pick up their classroom donations (both Monetary and Food Donations) by October 1 by calling (217) 429-5846 or by emailing director@northeastcommunityfund.org. Totals will be tracked by the WSOY Community Food Drive towards a teacher's total. Those totals will also be counted towards the school total.
“This challenge gives teachers and students a fun, competitive way to get involved, while knowing their efforts directly help families in our community,” said organizers.
Contest Highlights:
$1,000 to the top fundraising classroom
$500 to the second-place classroom
Counts toward both school-wide and classroom-specific totals
Food and Monetary donations must be turned into NECF by October 1st to be counted to qualify.
